Deuba affirms NC-UML unity on democratic, republican values

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has asserted that there is no significant difference between his party and the CPN-UML regarding the multi-party democratic system and the republican system.

Speaking at an event in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Deuba expressed confidence in the mutual support between Nepali Congress and UML for safeguarding democracy and the republic.

“There is no difference between Congress and UML when it comes to the multi-party democratic system and the republican system,” said Deuba.

“That’s why we have full support for each other in these matters. Our support is not due to a uniformity of opinions on all issues, but because of our shared commitment to these core principles,” he stated.

Deuba acknowledged that despite being principal competitors, both parties share a common goal of maintaining democratic values.

He emphasized that the current challenging situation in the country affects everyone, including employees.

“It is our duty to address and resolve these issues,” Deuba stated. “We should not be concerned; instead, I believe that KP Oli, I, and other friends should work together to make the federal democratic republic system more enduring.”

He also urged employees to implement government decisions confidently, despite the challenging circumstances.

“There is a challenging situation at the moment. In these times, the awareness of employee unions will be crucial. Everyone understands the challenges we face. We must protect our democratic system, and all of us will contribute to that effort,” Deuba said.
