UML withdraws support from Sudurpaschim government

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has withdrawn its support from the Sudurpaschim provincial government, causing Chief Minister Dirgha Sodari of the CPN (Unified Socialist) to lose his majority.

The decision was made during a parliamentary party meeting on Thursday.

CM Sodari was appointed on Baishak 6 with the support of 10 UML lawmakers, 10 Maoist Center lawmakers, four CPN (Unified Socialist) lawmakers, two Nagarik Unmukti Party lawmakers, and one independent lawmaker.

The UML’s move follows an agreement with the Nepali Congress at the federal level to oust Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s government and form a new one.
