CIAA summons Lalitpur Mayor Maharjan amid allegations

KATHMANDU: Chiribabu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, has been summoned by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

The Commission acted following a complaint alleging the unauthorized distribution of funds in the name of flood victims.

The complaint, filed with the Authority, claims that Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2.5 lakh were distributed to flood victims in Dhapakhel in 2077 BS, contrary to executive decisions.

Recently, Lalitpur Metropolitan Corporation reported encroachment on temple land, leading to a bulldozer allegedly damaging Sumitra Amatya’s compound wall.
