KATHMANDU: CPN-UML lawmaker Gokarna Raj Bista highlighted the formidable task ahead in implementing the economic transformation outlined in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.
During today’s House of Representatives meeting discussing the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for fiscal year 2024/25, Bista questioned whether the budget truly signifies a path towards socialism-oriented reform.
He emphasized concerns over decreased budget allocations for sectors like agriculture, information technology, and women’s investment, potentially hindering goal achievement.
Additionally, he criticized the absence of plans for the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport, raising suspicions.
Bista stressed the necessity of increased investment in production-oriented sectors for economic growth, praising the reduction of customs tax rates on direct taxes and raw materials for readymade goods as a positive step.
