Property worth 2.5 million gutted in fire

KANCHANPUR: Property worth 2.5 million rupees was destroyed in a fire that broke out in the house of Jayadev Thagunna of Shuklaphanta Municipality-7 on Friday.

The house was also gutted in the fire said to have been caused by an electric short circuit.

According to Police Inspector Bir Bahadur Budhayer of Area Police Office Jhalari, three goats perished in the fire while one buffalo has suffered serious burn injuries.

Food, clothes, jewelry, documents and Rs 500,000 in cash were burnt along with the house.

Meanwhile, Nepal Red Cross Society sub-branch Jhalari has provided materials such as tarpaulins, utensils and clothes to the fire victims.
