Ruling coalition collapses, new cabinet formation underway

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition comprising of the Maoist Center, Nepali Congress, Unified Socialist, and Janata Samajwadi Party has collapsed.

At an emergency meeting held at Balkot, the residence of Chairman KP Oli, this morning, the UML made a decision to align with the Maoist Center to form a new government.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda had previously hinted at the UML’s willingness to collaborate should the alliance with the Nepali Congress come to an end.

Surendra Pandey, Vice Chairman of CPN-UML, confirmed the governmental shift, announcing that a new cabinet is set to be formed today.

Pandey revealed that a downsized cabinet would be sworn in later in the day, marking the commencement of a new chapter in Nepal’s political landscape.
