Pashupati Area Development Trust initiates removal of encroached structures

KATHMANDU: The Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) has taken action to dismantle houses and physical structures constructed by individuals encroaching upon the land owned by the Pashupatinath Temple Trust.

PADT Spokesperson Rewati Raman Adhikari announced that a technical team from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, in collaboration with PADT, is conducting a search for such encroached structures and demarcating the identified areas.

“We have commenced the identification and demarcation of these structures since last Friday with the assistance of the technical team from KMC. This task is expected to be completed within one or two days. Structures built by encroaching on public land will be dismantled,” he stated.

PADT revealed instances where individuals encroached upon 3 ropanis, 6 anas, and 1 paisa of land at Gancha Pokhari in KMC-8, three ropanis 8 anas of land at Bhagawansthan in KMC-3, and some land at Lama Pokhari, Sifal, where illegal structures were erected.

PADT Chair and Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati, have instructed PADT and KMC to take necessary actions to remove the illegal structures encroaching upon PADT’s land.

A decision regarding this matter was taken during a meeting of the PADT Board on January 30.
