HUMLA: Snowfall has recurred to Humla since this morning.

This year marks the fourth occurrence of snowfall in the district.

Despite experiencing sunlight on Saturday afternoon, a sudden change in weather with the emergence of dark clouds resulted in snowfall from this morning.

As snowfall began this morning, Simikot, the district headquarters, witnessed an increase of one inch of snow, while Limi in the Northern Namkha Rural Municipality reported a two-inch accumulation, according to health worker Gorakh Bhandari from the Limi Health Post.

Bhandari explained that the excessive snowfall in Limi has created difficulties for the local residents, causing issues such as difficulty in leaving homes and freezing conditions.

Several high-altitude areas in Northern Namkha, Simikot, Kharpunath, and others have also experienced snowfall.

Local Kamal Bhandari mentioned that the recent continuous snowfall over the past two days has been beneficial for crops like wheat, barley, and has also assisted in the cultivation of mustard seeds.

Due to consistent snowfall, transportation linking the district to other areas has been obstructed, especially with the suspension of private airline services from Nepalgunj and Surkhet.

The interruption in flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Simikot has affected travelers heading to Humla.

On Saturday, Tara Air conducted a flight from Nepalgunj, and Lokendra Bohara, the Simikot branch office of the same airline, confirmed that no other flights have been scheduled from any other aircraft.

As of now, there has been no operation of flights from Nepalgunj and Surkhet to Simikot due to the ongoing snowfall. Travelers bound for Nepalgunj and Surkhet from Humla are currently halted in Simikot.
