PM Oli meets Chinese President Xi in Beijing
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, currently on a four-day visit to China, met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.
The meeting took place at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. Details of their discussions have not been made public yet.
PM Oli reached China on December 2. Before meeting with President Xi, he held talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Nepal and China sign nine agreements and MoUs
Nepal and China have signed nine agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs), and letters exchanged during Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to China.
Following a meeting between Prime Minister Oli and his Chinese counterpart, Li Qiang, at the Great Hall of the People on Tuesday morning, officials from both countries signed and exchanged nine key documents in their presence.
After the bilateral talks and signing ceremony, Krishna Prasad Dhakal, Spokesperson and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that a total of nine agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed, and several letters were exchanged.
President Xi Jinping announces 9 billion rupees grant to Nepal
Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced a grant of 500 million RMB (approximately 9 billion rupees) to Nepal.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and President Xi in Beijing, as per the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Prime Minister Oli, currently on a four-day official visit to China, held discussions with President Xi today, during which the grant was confirmed.
NC’s Dangol elected Kirtipur mayor
Krishnaman Dangol of Nepali Congress has been elected the Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality.
The Election Commission has stated that Dangol won by securing 5,334 votes in the by-election held on Sunday.
Dangol’s closest competitor, Shiva Sharan Maharjan of CPN (Maoist Center), secured 4,555 votes.
Shekhar Koirala faction defies party directive, holds meeting in Biratnagar
The faction of Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala began its meeting in Biratnagar, defying instructions from the party establishment.
The gathering, organized at Jain Bhawan, includes municipal leaders from Koshi Province aligned with Koirala’s group.
The party’s central office had issued a directive yesterday, instructing all district presidents in Koshi Province to refrain from organizing any meetings before the official provincial conference scheduled for December 7.
Nepali U19 win a thriller against Afghanistan in U19 Asia Cup
Nepal’s U19 cricket team registered a nail-biting 1-wicket victory over Afghanistan in their final match of the ongoing U19 Asia Cup, in Sharjah in UAE.
After electing to bat first, Afghanistan were restricted to a modest total of 124 runs, thanks to a disciplined bowling effort by the Nepali bowlers. Younis Thakuri and Santosh Yadav each took three wickets each, while captain Hemant Dhami and Abhishek Tiwari contributed two wickets apiece.
In response, Nepal overcame early setbacks and chased down the target in 41.3 overs with one wicket to spare, securing a memorable win. Nepal, however, faced a shaky start and found themselves struggling at 84 for 8.
NPL: Chitwan Rhinos defeats Pokhara Avengers by 87 runs
Chitwan Rhinos defeated Pokhara Avengers by 87 runs in the second match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Tuesday.
Pokhara Avengers suffered a crushing defeat, with bowlers Sohail Tanbir and Region Dhakal wreaking havoc on their batting lineup.
Chasing a target of 162 runs set by Chitwan at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Cricket Ground, Pokhara Avengers could only manage 74 runs in 13.2 overs, losing all their wickets.
