KATHMANDU: Westerly winds, local winds, and a low-pressure system over Bangladesh and India’s Assam are having a partial effect on Nepal’s weather.

Currently, the weather is partly cloudy to mostly clear in the hilly areas, while the rest of the country is mostly clear, according to the Weather Forecast Division.

This afternoon, hilly areas—including Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces—will remain partly cloudy to mostly clear.

However, light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, is expected in some hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, a few areas in Gandaki Province, and isolated spots in other provinces.

Light snowfall is also possible in a few places in the high hills and Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces, as well as in isolated locations in other high hills and Himalayan regions.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy to mostly clear across the country.

Light rain may occur in one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, with light snowfall possible in the highlands and Himalayas.

Over the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in the hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, a few locations in Gandaki Province, and isolated areas in the remaining provinces.

Light snowfall may also occur in select locations in the high hills and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as in a couple of other highland areas.

The Division has urged that due to these weather conditions, agriculture, health, tourism, mountain climbing, and road and air transport may be temporarily or partially affected.
