KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently affecting various regions of Nepal, bringing heavy rains, particularly to the Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, a low-pressure system is forming in Assam and the surrounding areas of northeastern India, which is contributing to these weather conditions in Nepal.

As of now, light to moderate rain is being observed in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, while some areas remain clear.

The forecast predicts light to moderate rain with thunder in several locations within Koshi and Bagmati, and light rain in a few spots in Gandaki.

On Thursday afternoon, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy across Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.

The likelihood of light to moderate rain with thunder continues in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, as well as in a few areas of Madhesh and one or two locations in other provinces.

There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in one or two areas of Koshi and Bagmati on Thursday afternoon.

The Division has anticipated rain accompanied by wind and storms in several places within the plain region of Koshi Province.

Authorities have issued warning urging residents to remain vigilant due to the risk of floods, landslides, and inundation, particularly given the forecast for heavy rain in select areas of Koshi and Bagmati over the next 24 hours.

The devastating floods and landslides that occurred last week have already resulted in numerous fatalities, and many blocked highways remain impassable.

The Division has advised travelers to be cautious and consider the weather conditions before embarking on journeys.
