KATHMANDU: CPN-UML ministers submitted their resignations to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Wednesday evening.

They took this step following a meeting with the Prime Minister after a UML Secretariat meeting on Tuesday had called for PM Dahal’s resignation.

Eight UML ministers, including the Deputy Prime Minister, arrived at Baluwatar and formally resigned on Wednesday evening when PM Dahal did not comply with their demand to step down.

Alongside their resignations, UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula stated that their support for the government has been withdrawn.

“There has been a withdrawal of support with the resignation,” Bartaula stated.

Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have agreed to reshape the current power structure and form a new government.

In accordance with this agreement, CPN-UML had set a deadline for Wednesday evening for Prime Minister Dahal to resign.

However, as PM Dahal remained unwilling to step down, the UML ministers proceeded with their resignation.
