Only 52 percent of work completed on Narayangadh-Butwal Road Widening Project

NAWALPARASI: The Narayangadh-Butwal road widening project, originally slated for completion by July 23, faces its second extended deadline.

Initiated under an agreement in 2019, the project has seen two deadline extensions.

Engineer Shiva Khanal, Information Officer at the project, reports that 52% of the work in the eastern section located in Nawalparasi has been completed.

Covering 65 kilometers from Narayani Bridge in Gaindakot to Daunne, the eastern section has witnessed the blacktopping of 44 kilometers out of the planned 130 kilometers for both sides of the projected four-lane road.

“Currently, a 27-km stretch of one-way blacktopped road is accessible in this section, with preparations completed for blacktopping on an additional 6.6 kilometers,” Khanal confirmed.

Ashish Thapa Magar, Project Chief for the eastern section, mentioned that the China State Construction Engineering Corporation, responsible for the construction, intends to proceed with blacktopping in the prepared areas despite no further progress within the current deadline.
