Monsoon predicted to arrive in Nepal on June 13

KATHMANDU: This year’s monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Nepal on June 13.

According to the Weather Forecast Division of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon has already reached India’s northeastern region, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sikkim in India.

Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane indicated that the monsoon will likely enter Nepal around June 13, with a 35 to 55 percent probability of above-average rainfall across most parts of the country during this period.

Climate expert Dr. Dharmaraj Upreti mentioned that the monsoon reached Assam, Sikkim, and nearby regions in India last Saturday, suggesting that the monsoon could arrive in the Koshi region a week earlier than the expected date.

With the monsoon air becoming more active, it is likely that the monsoon will be active in Koshi Province within the next three to five days.
