Nagarik Unmukti Party whips lawmakers to oppose CM Shah in Sudurpaschim Province



KATHMANDU: Ranjita Shrestha, Chairperson of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, has directed her party’s lawmakers to vote against Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of Sudurpaschim Province as he faces a vote of confidence scheduled for Thursday.

With seven lawmakers in the Provincial Assembly, the Nagarik Unmukti Party commands a significant presence.

Notably, five of these members currently hold ministerial positions.

In a political landscape comprising 52 members in the Provincial Assembly, the opposition to CM Shah’s leadership includes 18 representatives from Nepali Congress, 11 from CPN (Maoist Center), 10 from CPN-UML, seven from Nagarik Unmukti Party, four from CPN (Unified Socialist), along with one from RPP and one independent lawmaker.
