Minister Sharma instructs telecom managers and employees to excel in competition



KATHMANDU: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma instructed the managers and employees of the Nepal Telecom to deliver in such a way that the Telecom makes maximum profits and they could excel in competition.

Addressing the 17th anniversary of the Nepal National Employees Organization of the Nepal Telecom Central Committee here today, Minister Sharma underscored the need for the managers and employees to work harder to improve the organization.

“Revenue of the organization has decreased. You will have to work harder to bring the organization back to how it was in the past. Public are still trusting the Telecom and leverage that trust as an opportunity,” said the Minister, also Spokesperson of the government.

She viewed that if the Telecom would make a profit, it could contribute to the economic prosperity of the country as well as to increase facilities for the employees in the Telecom.

The Minister highlighted the need for the political parties and employee’s organization to focus on economic prosperity in addition to enhancing the advocacy of the rights achieved after the establishment of republican system.

On the occasion, the Minister shared that homework was underway to consider amendment on the Telecommunications Act-2053 BS and pledged to revise the Telecom’s regulations from time to time.
