Ruling coalition to hold talks with UML regarding NA election

KATHMANDU: The ruling coalition is scheduled to engage in discussions with the CPN-UML, the main opposition party, to strategize for the upcoming National Assembly election on January 25. The meeting is set to take place this evening at 5 PM.

Earlier today, Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal convened a meeting with leaders of the Nepali Congress.

The coalition, consisting of CPN (Maoist Center), Nepali Congress, Janata Samajbadi Party, and CPN (Unified Socialist), is slated to hold a preliminary meeting at 3 PM today, just hours ahead of the scheduled discussion with CPN-UML.

During Tuesday and Wednesday’s meetings within the ruling alliance, there were deliberations about collaborating with the main opposition party for the upcoming National Assembly election.

Out of the 19 seats that will be vacant in the National Assembly, the coalition appears inclined to allocate 3 to 4 seats to the CPN-UML.

The tenures of nine lawmakers from CPN-UML, four from Nepali Congress, three from CPN (Maoist Center), two from CPN (Unified Socialist), and one each from Janata Samajbadi Party and an independent lawmaker are set to conclude on March 3.
