Property worth over Rs 10 million gutted

MAHOTTARI: Property worth more than Rs 10 million has been gutted by fire sparked by an electric short-circuit here at Bardibas Municipality-14.

The incident occurred last night at the New Durga Electric Suppliers store located at Aurahi Road on the Bardibas-Jaleshwor roadway, the Area Police Office, Mahottari said.

The fire gutted goods in six out of the 13 shutters on the ground floor at the three-storied house of one Ram Sewak Mahato.

The fire started from the electric shop owned by Sahajis Nadaf of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-13 of Dhanusha district.

Nadaf had rented the entire house and had been running the electric store.

The locals joined hands with the Nepali Army and Nepal Police personnel to bring the fire under control.

The inferno was doused with the help of four fire engines, including that belonging to the Ramgopalpur Municipality, said Rewati Raman Pokharel, the Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Area Police Office Bardibas.
