Dashain flights to start at 4:30 am at night-operational airports

KATHMANDU: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has announced that all airports capable of handling night flights will be operational from as early as 4:30 a.m.

This arrangement will remain in place until Ashwin 30 to meet the travel demands caused by floods and the festive season.

Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey, said that this step aims to address the increased air traffic pressure brought on by the floods and festivals.

“From Ghatasthapana to the Purnima of Dashain, all airports with night flight capabilities, including Tribhuvan International Airport, Gautam Buddha International Airport, and Pokhara International Airport, will operate from 4:30 a.m. through their regular night schedules, with extensions as needed,” said Minister Pandey.

Flights from the airport have been allowed from early morning to meet the pressure of a large number of passengers leaving Kathmandu on Dasain.

Currently, over 500 domestic flights are operating daily, a response to the damaged road infrastructure across the country.

Minister Pandey stressed that this initiative is an effort to simplify ticketing and reduce airfares, making travel more accessible during this period of disruption.
