Home Minister instructs concerned agencies to remain on high alert amid heavy rainfall forecast

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed all agencies to be on ‘high alert’ due to predictions of heavy rainfall in parts of the Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

He emphasized the need for caution among heads of security agencies, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Chief District Officers, and local security mechanisms, as heavy rain is expected both today and tomorrow.

The Weather Forecasting Division has warned of potential heavy rainfall in these regions and advised the public to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks.

“In light of the forecast, I have instructed the chief district officers and heads of security agencies in the Koshi and Bagmati provinces to remain vigilant,” he stated.

The Home Minister also mentioned that he has coordinated with the heads of security agencies and disaster authorities within the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure readiness for further actions as needed.

He noted that many highways have already been obstructed due to prior floods and landslides, which continue to pose a risk.

Home Minister Lekhak has also urged travelers to exercise caution while on the road.
