PHC schedules proposed Election Commissioner Pradhan’s hearing on July 5



KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the Federal Parliament has scheduled a hearing for Krishna Man Pradhan, the proposed candidate for the vacant Election Commissioner position, on July 5.

The meeting chaired by senior member Pashupati Shumsher Rana, set the schedule to discuss with complainants against Pradhan on July 4 and with Pradhan himself on July 5.

Four complaints have been filed against Pradhan.

On June 21, a public notice was issued to inform the public about the proposal to recommend advocate Pradhan’s appointment and to submit any complaints to the committee within ten days.

On June 16, the Constitutional Council proposed the name of election observation expert Pradhan for the position of Election Commissioner and sent a letter to the Federal Parliament Secretariat for parliamentary hearings as per constitutional provisions.

Pradhan, a permanent resident of Tarakeshwar-3 Nuwakot, is the General Secretary of the General Election Observation Committee (GEOC) and Chairman of the Rural Development Foundation.
