PM Dahal not to step down immediately

To face vote of confidence instead of resignation

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has decided not to resign immediately.

Addressing party leaders at the office bearers’ meeting at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday, PM Dahal said he would rather face a vote of confidence than stepping down.

Maoist Secretary Devendra Paudel stated that the Prime Minister is determined to stay in office, perform a calculation, confront Parliament, and seek a vote of confidence.

According to the constitution, the Prime Minister has a 30-day window to seek a vote of confidence.

It should also be noted that CPN UML Chairman KP Oli, during a meeting with PM Dahal on Tuesday morning, urged him to step down and facilitate the transition.

The Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders on Monday evening decided to form a coalition government.
