Four parties demand removal of Madhes Chief Minister Yadav



JANAKPURDHAM: The political parties in the ruling coalition at federal level have requested the province chief to remove Madhes province’s Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav from office.

After forging consensus to form the Madhes government under Janamat party leadership, CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) have have approached the province chief, Sumitra Bhandari, to submit a memorandum seeking the removal of Chief Minister Yadav from office.

According to the Central Secretary of the Janamat Party, BP Sah, the key parties in Madhes politics have requested the province Chief restrict Chief Minister Yadav from taking the decisions with long term impacts, and introducing new budget.

Incumbent Chief Minister Yadav is belongs to Upendra Yadav-led Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP).

Following the UML and Maoist Center lawmakers’ exit from Yadav’s cabinet, Chief Minister Yadav’s government had become a minority government.

Among the 107 members in the Madhes Province Assembly, the UML is the first party with 25 provincial parliamentarians.

There are 22 from Nepali Congress, 19 from Janata Samajbadi Party, 13 from Janamat Party, 8 from LSP, 9 from Maoist Center, and 7 from  CPN-Unified Socialist Party.

Abhiram Sharma from LSP is suspended.

There is one member each from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party, and Nepal Federal Socialist Party in the 107-member Madhes Province Assembly.

The support of 54 parliamentarians is required to form a government in the province assembly.

The alliance of Janamat, UML, LSP, Unified Socialist, and Maoist center is enough to claim majority government in Madhes.
