India Exit Polls: NDA poised for third term

NEW DELHI: Exit polls following the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections’ final phase in India suggest a continuation of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance’s reign, foreseeing a potential third term.

Projections indicate the NDA could secure approximately 360 seats, while the INDIA bloc is anticipated to clinch around 150 seats.

Remaining seats may be divided among neutral parties like the Biju Janata Dal and the Trinamool Congress.

These projections will be confirmed with the release of official results on June 4. Initial analyses suggest the NDA is maintaining stronghold regions in the north and west while gaining significant traction in the east and making notable advancements in southern states.

Notably, forecasts indicate the NDA may outstrip the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and surpass the BJD in Odisha.

In Bihar, the ruling coalition and its allies are expected to surpass the 30-seat threshold out of 40.

However, minor setbacks in Maharashtra for the NDA were noted compared to its 2019 performance, with the Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party’s split potentially bolstering the INDIA bloc’s presence in the state, albeit with varying degrees according to different pollsters.
