Altitude sickness claims lives of four Yarsagumba collectors; One in serious condition



KATHMANDU: Four Yarsagumba (Cordyceps Sinensis) collectors have succumbed to altitude sickness in the Mugu district.

Another collector is in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment at a local health post.

According to Topendra KC, the Chief District Officer (CDO) of the district, Jeevan Buda and Dev Raj Buda of Chayanath Rara Municipality-10 were being transferred to the district headquarters for further treatment when Dev Raj Buda passed away en route.

Additionally, Man Bahadur Buda, Shovan Buda, and Raj Bahadur Sawat of Chayanath Rara Municipality-12 also died of altitude sickness.

Last year, three collectors died in an avalanche, and another died after falling from a cliff while pursuing Yarsagumba.
