DSP Thag Bahadur KC convicted on corruption charges



KATHMANDU: The Special Court has convicted former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Thug Bahadur KC of the Butwal Area Police Office on corruption charges.

On Tuesday, Judges Tek Narayan Kunwar, Tej Narayan Singh Rai, and Riten Thapa found KC guilty.

The court sentenced him to two years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 850,000.

Similarly, Khilendra GC, also accused of bribery, has been convicted by the court on corruption charges.

Following his indictment for contempt of court, he has also been sentenced to one year and six months in prison and fined Rs 950,000.

Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs had dismissed KC from his departmental duties.

At the time when he was the chief of the Butwal Area Police Office in Rupandehi, KC was accused of demanding a bribe in exchange for releasing a suspect.

Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed a case against DSP GC seeking Rs 1.8 million for his fault.
