Sudurpaschim Province CM Shah to seek vote of confidence on April 4

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah of Sudurpaschim Province is slated to undergo a vote of confidence on Thursday.

CM Shah lodged a proposal for the vote of confidence at the Provincial Secretariat on Tuesday.

Following the recent formation of a new alliance at the federal level, CM Shah dismissed ministers affiliated with CPN (Maoist Center).

Currently, Nepali Congress holds the largest share of seats in the province, with 18 lawmakers out of 53 in the Provincial Assembly.

To retain his position, CM Shah must secure support from at least 27 lawmakers.

In a bid to strengthen his position, CM Shah has appointed five ministers from the Nagarik Unmukti Party.

However, the party leaders remain divided on whether to support the Shah-led government.

Presently, there are 10 lawmakers from CPN (Maoist Center), excluding the Speaker, 10 from CPN-UML, and four from CPN (Unified Socialist).
