ICC U19 World Cup: India opts to bat first against Nepal in Super Six clash

KATHMANDU: In the Super Six stage of the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, India has won the toss and elected to bat first at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.

The decision sets the stage for a clash that can be seen as a David vs. Goliath encounter.

The Indian U19 side has displayed near perfection in the competition, dominating teams with 200-plus run margin victories.

With an eye on securing a spot in the semi-finals, India aims to continue their formidable performance against Nepal.

On the flip side, Nepal Under-19 fought hard in their final group game against Afghanistan to advance to the Super Sixes stage.

However, they faced an early setback in this stage with a loss to Bangladesh.

Recent encounters with India haven’t been favorable for Nepal, especially considering a 10-wicket defeat in the Asia Cup just two months ago, where they were bowled out for a mere 52 runs.

This match marks the third meeting between Nepal and India in the U-19 World Cup. The historical encounters in 2000 and 2016 saw India emerge victorious, emphasizing the challenging task ahead for Nepal.

As Nepal seeks redemption in today’s crucial match, the outcome holds significant implications for their U-19 World Cup journey.
