RSP Chair Lamichhane files defamation case against Kantipur Publication

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) chairman and former Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane has registered a case against Kantipur Publication for alleged defamation. He lodged the case against Kantipur at the Kathmandu District Court on Tuesday. Describing himself as the warrior of press freedom, the RSP Chair tried to justify his filing of the case as a continuation of the fight for integrity, regardless of victory or defeat.

Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar visiting Nepal on Thursday

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is slated to embark on a visit to Nepal on Thursday, marking his participation in the seventh meeting of the Nepal-India Foreign Minister-level Joint Commission. A special plane from the Indian Air Force is expected to touch down at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at 10 am on Thursday, with Minister Jaishankar’s visit extending over two days.

Annapurna region records 191,558 foreign visitors from 173 countries in 2023

Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) reports a remarkable milestone with 191,558 foreign nationals visiting the Annapurna region in 2023. This surpasses the previous record of 181,000 foreign visitors in 2019. Dr. Rabin Kadariya, the chief of the project, expressed, “A new record has been set for the number of foreign nationals visiting the Annapurna region in 2023,” noting that the majority, 97,554, were from South Asian countries.

Balkumari Incident: Bodies handed over to deceased families

Following the Balkumari incident, the police have initiated the handover of the deceased’s bodies to their family members in Dailekh and Achham. The body of Sujan Rawat from Dailekh was transported home via a Nepali Army helicopter on Tuesday, as per police information. Moreover, the body of Birendra Shah has also been handed over to the family in Achham today.

Govt to set up Citizen Wellness Centers in more than 300 places

The government has been operating the Nagarik Arogya Kendra (Citizen Wellness Centre at 311 local levels across the country. Director General of the Department of Ayurveda and Alternative Medicine, Dr. Basudev Upadhyay, said 311 such centers have been set up this year with the goal of establishing a citizen wellness center each at each and every local level.

Gold price surges to Rs 121,000 per tola, up by Rs 500 today

Gold prices experienced a notable increase of Rs 500 per tola on Tuesday, reaching an unprecedented Rs 121,000 per tola in the Nepali market. The Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association reported that fine gold was traded at Rs 121,000 per tola, while the standard gold price stood at Rs 120,400 per tola. It’s worth noting that one tola is equivalent to 11.66 grams.
