Balkumari Incident: Bodies handed over to deceased families



KATHMANDU: Following the Balkumari incident, the police have initiated the handover of the deceased’s bodies to their family members in Dailekh and Achham.

The body of Sujan Rawat from Dailekh was transported home via a Nepali Army helicopter on Tuesday, as per police information. Moreover, preparations are underway for the police to hand over Birendra Shah’s body in Achham today.

His body has arrived in Surkhet, and arrangements are underway to transport it from there to Achham.

Last Friday, amidst a clash between students demanding permission to apply for a language exam at the EPS Korea branch in Balkumari and the police, Sujan Rawat from Dailekh and Birendra Shah from Achham lost their lives. Sujan succumbed to his injuries at the Imadol-based KIST Hospital, while Birendra passed away at the Patan Hospital.

Both bodies underwent post-mortem examinations at the Patan Hospital.
