KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party Chair Rabi Lamichhane’s interrogation and statement recording regarding the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud case concluded for Sunday, with proceedings set to continue on Monday.

Lamichhane, in custody at the Kathmandu Police since Friday, was taken to the office of the district attorney on Sunday morning for further questioning.

However, as the statement remains incomplete, he will stay in Kathmandu at least until Monday, police sources confirmed.

Lamichhane was brought to Kathmandu on Thursday evening from Pokhara.
Since then, he has undergone several hours of questioning, including six-and-a-half hours on Friday and nearly five hours on Sunday.

The case involves allegations of fraud linked to Swarnalakshmi Cooperative.

Investigators have found documents indicating loans of 46.48 million rupees and 46.98 million rupees  taken under the guise of vehicle loans, allegedly diverted to Gorkha Media Network.
Two documents without borrower signatures or cooperative seals have been discovered, further implicating Lamichhane and others.

The case has seen a total of 680 complaints, claiming damages of 1.11 billion rupees.

Of the 24 accused, five, including Lamichhane, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, and three others, are in custody. The cooperative’s director, J.B. Rai, remains at large.

Police are actively investigating the case, with supplementary complaints now filed at the District Police Office in Kathmandu.
