Local level by-election: Voting underway (In pics)



KATHMANDU: Voting in the local level by-election is taking place peacefully across various areas to fill 41 vacant positions.

In Kirtipur Municipality of Kathmandu district, elections are being held at 20 polling stations for the mayoral and ward chair positions.

Voters are showing strong enthusiasm, with 20 candidates running for mayor, nine for the chair of ward no. 1, and 12 for the chair of ward no. 4, according to voting officer Indira Karki.

In Hetauda Sub-metropolis, Makwanpur, voters at ward no. 12 are casting their ballots in a calm and fair environment at the Pratibha Basic School and Bishnu Jyoti Basic School.

Reports from Rajbiraj indicate that voting is underway at five centers for the election of ward chairs in wards no. 1 and 4 of Dankeshwori Municipality.

The election process is proceeding smoothly, with eight candidates in the race at each ward.

In Dailekh’s Mahabu Rural Municipality, two voting centers have been seeing long lines since early morning as residents turn out to vote for a new chair.

In Humla district, voting for the vice-chairman of Sarkegad Rural Municipality is also proceeding without incident, with voters braving the cold weather to cast their ballots.

Overall, the elections are progressing smoothly, with voters eager to exercise their rights.
