Proposed ambassador to India Dr. Sharma urges lawmakers to inquire about his return to the post



KATHMANDU: Dr. Shankar Sharma, the proposed ambassador to India, has urged lawmakers to seek an explanation from the government regarding the reason for his return to the post.

During a parliamentary hearing at Singha Durbar on Sunday, Dr. Sharma emphasized that it was the government’s decision to recommend him for the ambassadorship, and therefore, it is the government’s responsibility to provide an explanation.

In presenting his work plan, Dr. Sharma outlined his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing financial connectivity, developing infrastructure, and increasing investment.

He also pledged to focus on the following initiatives:

Expediting the construction of the Bijalpura-Bardibas Railway, the Raxaul-Kathmandu Rail, and the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar link road.

Overseeing bridge construction projects in Siraha, Jhulaghat, and Darchula.

Expanding aerial routes between India and Nepal.

Dr. Sharma, who was previously recalled from his first tenure as ambassador to India before completing his term, has been recommended for the post once again following his return.
