Adverse weather disrupts domestic and international flights

KATHMANDU: Adverse weather conditions have disrupted domestic flights across Nepal.

The Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) office reported that both domestic and international flights have been affected due to poor visibility caused by continuous rainfall.

TIA General Manager Jagannath Niraula stated that Air China’s international flight had to be diverted, and several other international flights were delayed due to worsening weather conditions.

In addition, airports in Pokhara, Bharatpur, and Simara were closed until noon for the same reason.

According to airport authorities, only Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) were being followed.

Due to low visibility at Pokhara Airport, most flights were grounded, with only two flights between Pokhara and Kathmandu operating today.

Dipendra Kumar Karna, Information Officer at Buddha Air, informed that regional flights to Bharatpur, Pokhara, and Nepalgunj were also disrupted by the weather.

Moreover, the flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar was canceled, according to a TIA source.
