KATHMANDU: Leaders have claimed that a coalition government between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML will be finalized by Tuesday.

According to high-level sources, discussions are ongoing between the NC and UML regarding power sharing.

It is expected that a framework will be completed by tomorrow, initiating the process of forming a new coalition government.

For this purpose, UML Chair KP Oli, Vice Chair Bishnu Paudel, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Raghubir Mahaseth are holding discussions in Balkot.

Meanwhile, top NC leaders are also engaged in informal discussions at various levels, according to NC sources.

UML leaders have indicated that although a preliminary power-sharing framework has been established, final agreements will be reached by tomorrow.

“NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has agreed to accept our Chairman as Prime Minister. The final agreement will be in place by tomorrow, resulting in a change in the coalition,” said a UML source.

Drafting of the agreement is currently underway, involving Ramesh Lekhak and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki from NC, and UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and leaders Ramesh Badal among others.

UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula is also heading to Balkot to meet UML Chair Oli after the House of Representatives meeting.
