KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of party office bearers today.

Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel said that Deuba called a meeting of office bearers at his residence in Budhanilkantha, scheduled for Monday at 3 pm.

“The meeting will delve into current political developments, including discussions on the upcoming central committee meeting and the status of affiliated organizations,” he stated.

Paudel mentioned, “The term of some sister organizations expired yesterday (Saturday). The meeting will also address other pertinent political matters.”

Earlier, NC President Deuba held a three-hour discussion with CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, on Saturday afternoon, following which he decided to call for the office bearers’ meeting.

The meeting has been called two days after NC President Deuba held “crucial” talks with CPN-UML KP Oli on Saturday.

According to sources, Deuba proposed to Oli the formation of a national government, aiming to broaden coalition participation beyond just Nepali Congress-UML.

Under Deuba’s plan, Oli would assume the role of Prime Minister in this coalition, inviting parties like the Maoist Center and the Unified Socialist Party to join.
