NEW DELHI: Exit polls suggest Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is likely to win a third consecutive term.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance is projected to win a majority in the general election that concluded on Saturday, according to exit polls.

Six exit polls forecast a substantial win for the ruling BJP-led NDA: Republic Bharat-P Marq (359 seats), India News-D-Dynamics (371 seats), Republic Bharat-Matrize (353-368 seats), Dainik Bhaskar (281-350 seats), News Nation (342-378 seats), and Jan Ki Baat (362-392 seats).

Indian news channels and other agencies are currently releasing the results of the exit polls they conducted during the six-week vote in India.

It should be noted that the result of exit polls is banned until all voting is over.

The final vote count will be held on June 4 and the results will likely be announced the same day, Indian media reports say.

According to the India Today-Axis exit poll, the BJP-led NDA is expected to secure 6-7 out of the seven Lok Sabha seats in the Indian capital, New Dehi.

The opposition Congress party is projected to win either one seat or none at all, according to the news network.
