KATHMANDU: Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman of the Nepal Samajbadi Party (NSP) and former Prime Minister, has leveled accusations against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, alleging his relentless pursuit of power.
Speaking at a meeting at Kathmandu’s Shanti Batika on Wednesday, commemorating the 135th International Workers’ Day, the NSP Chair vented his frustration towards Prime Minister Dahal.
“Principles and ideologies seem to hold no sway. Power shifts between alliances, be it with the Nepali Congress or the CPN-UML,” remarked Bhattarai. “For him, power appears to be the ultimate pursuit, regardless of the means.”
The former comrade in the same party, the NSP Chair mentioned that although he had planned to lead a new socialist transformation campaign by including the parties and individuals involved in the Maoist movement, he failed to advance due to Prachanda’s charisma for power.
“I already knew that he would do anything for power. However, there was a plan to move forward with new strategies by bringing together comrades involved in the Maoist movement. But it couldn’t succeed due to Prachanda,” he added.
