Nagarik Unmukti Central members accuse Resham Chaudhary of threatening violence

KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary-close central members have accused party’s founder Resham Chaudhary of threatening to take lives for their different views.

During a press conference held in Kathmandu on Monday, ahead of a meeting of the party’s founding central members, Resham supporters took to physical assaults against central members for their opinion to support same coalition at federal and province levels.

Central member Ramesh Bishwakarma claimed that Resham had planned the violence as there were some ‘outsiders’ in party office.

Bishwakarma further stated that the altercation and threats of violence against him had heightened insecurity.

He revealed that Resham warned to take lives of the lawmakers voting against incumbent Sudurpaschim Chief Minister.

NC leader Kamal Bahadur Shah-led government is at the verge of collapse after former coalition partner CPN-Maoist Center withdrew its support.

The rift between Nagarik Unmukti party chair Ranjita and founding leader Resham has been widening lately owing to their diverse opinion on joining ruling coalition.

Party chair Ranjita wants to tie stronger with Maoist Center-led coalition whereas leader Chaudhary has urged caution and join NC-led alliance.
