PM Dahal to address lawmakers’ queries in parliament on Monday

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is set to respond to questions raised by lawmakers in the parliament on the upcoming Monday. In a communication sent to the parliament today, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers conveyed that the Prime Minister was unable to address lawmakers on Friday due to prior scheduled commitments.

SC denies interim order in Arun Chaudhary’s writ against government

The Supreme Court has rejected the interim order sought by business Arun Chaudhary against the government’s endeavor to regain ownership of the land belonging to the Bansbari-based Leather and Shoes Factory. Chaudhary had requested an interim order to contest the Land Revenue Office’s effort to reclaim 10 ropanis of land previously owned by the shoe factory.

Nepal clinches victory against Namibia by a margin of three runs

In a thrilling encounter, Nepal emerged victorious against Namibia by a narrow margin of three runs in the fourth match of the tri-nations T20I series currently underway in Kathmandu. Having won the toss, Namibia elected to bowl first, managing to restrict Nepal to a total of 180 runs while conceding eight wickets. NC and Maoist Center nearing accord for cabinet reshuffle

If an NC source is to be believed, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba “agreed” to reshuffle the cabinet. The source disclosed that a consensus has been reached to reshuffle the cabinet by appointing new faces, probably by next week.

Usury victims organize chain rally in Kathmandu

Victims of loan sharking, protesting in Kathmandu with various demands, organized a human chain rally in the capital on Friday. Highlighting the urgency of promptly addressing their demands, they collectively arranged a chain protest rally, commencing from Bhrikutimandap and concluding at Bhadrakali in Kathmandu. They chanted slogans in support of their demands, specifically targeting loan sharking, and called for relief from the burdensome debt incurred due to usury.

High Court issues show cause order in controversial NTA Chairman appointment case

The Patan High Court has issued a show cause order concerning the contentious appointment of the Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA), prompting a legal challenge against the government’s decision. During the hearing of a writ petition filed by Ramdev Yadav, who sought an interim order, the single bench of High Court Judge Anju Upreti Dhakal mandated the government to present justifiable reasons in response to the show cause order.
