KATHMANDU: Arun Chaudhary has taken legal action against the government’s endeavor to regain ownership of the land belonging to the Bansbari-based Leather and Shoes Factory.

An application has been filed by Chaudhary at the Supreme Court, contesting the government’s move.

The Land Revenue Office initiated proceedings to reclaim ownership of 10 ropanis of land currently held by the factory.

In response to this action, CG Chandbhag Residency Pvt Ltd has filed an application challenging the process, urging for its annulment, according to sources within the Apex Court.

Previously, on February 1, Arun Chaudhary, brother of billionaire Binod Chaudhary, and the then executive chief of Bansbar Leather and Shoes Factory, Ajit Narayan Singh Thapa, along with Sanjay Thakur, operator of CG Chandbhag Residency Pvt Ltd, were apprehended by the CIB on allegations of embezzling government-owned lands.

However, they were subsequently released following a court order.

Subsequently, the government initiated measures to reclaim ownership of the land.
