US Ambassador Dean Thompson holds talks with Kathmandu Mayor Balen



KATHMANDU: US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson held talks with the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balen Shah today.

The meeting took place in Shah’s office, where various mutual issues were discussed.

During the conversation, Mayor Shah proposed a collaborative Information Technology (IT) training program as a mutual initiative.

The aim is to provide American companies with skilled manpower while enabling Nepalese youth to earn income and become proficient workers for the global job market.

Shah also highlighted Kathmandu’s engagement in the film genre under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, expressing the city’s anticipation for the U.S. Embassy’s assistance in coordinating mutual programs with Hollywood film stakeholders, including producers, directors, actors, and distributors.

Ambassador Thompson responded positively, expressing the U.S. willingness to engage in creative programs and enhance relations on expert, business, social, and civil levels.

The forthcoming investment conference in Nepal, featuring the regional representative from America, emerged as a focal point for discussions on potential programs related to the metropolitan city.

On the occasion, Thompson also extended an invitation to Mayor Balen Shah to visit the United States, further emphasizing the commitment to fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

The meeting concluded with shared opinions on the upcoming investment conference, paving the way for collaborative initiatives and strengthened diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States.
