Kathmandu Court allows 4-day detention for Chaudhary and Thapa in Bansbari land grab case

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu district court has granted permission for the detention of Arun Chaudhary, a businessman implicated in a land embezzlement case, and Ajit Narayan Thapa, the former executive head of Bansbari Leather Footwear Industry, for a period of four days.

Judge Madhav Prasad Ghimire, presiding over the bench at District Court Kathmandu, sanctioned the four-day detention for the purpose of conducting further investigations into the alleged fraudulent activities related to the misappropriation of land belonging to the Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory.

Both Chaudhary and Thapa were remanded by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on charges of fraud and cheating.

The CIB brought them before the district court through the district attorney’s office to facilitate the legal proceedings.

Initially apprehended by the CIB, Chaudhary and Thapa were taken into custody.
