KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, has emphasized the necessity of an NC-led government for establishing good governance in the country.

During the inauguration of the Nepal Prajatantra Senani Sangh Bagmati Provincial-level gathering in Kathmandu on Monday, Dr. Koirala stated that the current government needs to be changed to ensure good governance and eradicate corruption, advocating for the NC leadership to take charge. He expressed dissatisfaction with the inability of the current CPN-Maoist Center-led government to address significant issues effectively.

Dr. Koirala also mentioned the urgency to convene a national convention soon from the party’s central committee meeting to revitalize Congress’ former strength.

Highlighting the need for a change in leadership within the Congress, he stressed the importance of the upcoming national convention in reshaping the party’s direction and making it stronger. He asserted that the Congress should collaborate only with democratic forces before elections, refusing to form alliances with the Communists under any circumstances.

Regarding the recent Bal Kumari incident in Lalitpur, Koirala blamed the government’s weakness rather than solely attributing the blame to the police administration in Lalitpur.
