ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier: Bahrain beats Hong Kong by 20 runs



KATHMANDU: Bahrain defeated Hong Kong by 20 runs in the match played in Kathmandu under ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers.

In the match held at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, Hong Kong chasing a run target of 147 from its opponent made 126 in 19.1 overs, losing all wickets.

For the team, Anshuman Rath hit the highest 28 followed by 21 by Zeeshan Ali, 19 by Aziz Khan, and 16 from Nasrulla Rana.

On the bowling side, Abdul Majid Abbasi took three wickets followed by two each by Rizwan Butt and Ali Dawood.

Prior to this, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Bahrain made 146 in 19.3 overs at the loss of all wickets.

Imran Ali contributed 63 with five boundaries and three sixes in 43 balls while Imran Anwer scored 15, Haider Butt 15 and Rizwan Butt 13. No other players could hit a double-digit run.

For Hong Kong, Nasrulla Rana took three wickets, and Ehsan Khan, Aziz Khan, and Yasim Murtaza took two wickets each.

With this victory, Bahrain has collected two points. It lost the opening match of Group ‘B’ with the United Arab Emirates by five wickets on Monday while Hong Kong won Monday’s match over Kuwait by 31 runs.

Hong Kong will meet the UAE and Bahrain will face Kuwait for the next match on coming Thursday.
