PM Dahal, RSP Chief Whip Pariyar discuss Parliament’s effectiveness and TJ Bill

KATHMANDU: A meeting took place between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar to discuss some crucial matters.

In the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today morning, both leaders emphasized the need to enhance the effectiveness of Parliament and its role in governing the nation.

Pariyar commended the positive role they both played in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Parliament.

The Prime Minister expressed his expectation for further improvement in this regard.

One of the issues raised in the meeting was the delay in selecting the chairman of the parliamentary committee.

Pariyar highlighted that an essential bill is currently under discussion in the committee.

However, due to the absence of a chairman, the progress of the discussions has been hindered.

The urgent need to expedite the selection process for the committee’s chairman was emphasized in the meeting, and the Prime Minister responded positively to this concern.

Moreover, the Transitional Justice Bill was also a topic of interest during the discussion.

Pariyar informed the Prime Minister about his involvement in the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee’s sub-committee, which is currently deliberating the bill.

He shared that they have been engaging with victims from both the state and the rebels and gathering insights from the National Human Rights Commission, jurists, stakeholders, and other experts. All this valuable input is being used to draft a comprehensive report on the bill.

Pariyar expressed satisfaction that the Prime Minister showed seriousness in expediting the finalization of the Transitional Justice Bill as soon as possible.
