Govt to suspend officials in connection with Balkumari incident: Director of EPS Korea Section, DSP, and Minister’s bodyguard to face action

KATHMANDU: In the aftermath of the tragic clash between agitating EPS students and security personnel resulting in the death of two youths at Balkumari, the government is set to suspend key individuals involved.

The Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has directed authorities to take appropriate actions against the responsible parties, according to a source at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The individuals to face suspension include Dandu Raj Ghimire, the current Director General, and Gurudatta Subedi, who serves as Director at EPS Korea Section. Additionally, DSP Umesh Lamasl, who commanded as many as 125 security personnel deployed at Balkumari during the incident and Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Minister Prakash Jwala, will also face suspension.

This move comes as part of the government’s response to address the accountability and repercussions of the unfortunate events at Balkumari.
