PM Oli awards international medalists from various sports competitions

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has awarded medals to successful athletes, coaches, and managers who won medals in the SAFF Women’s Football Championship, Asian Karate Championship, and CAVA Beach Volleyball competition.

The awards ceremony took place today at the Prime Minister’s residence, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in line with the government’s decision on December 13.

The government, formed under Prime Minister Oli’s leadership, has removed the practice of providing cash awards for athletes and coaches.

Among the recipients were medalists Amrita Jaisi, Head Coach Rajendra Tamang, and Manager Brinda Dewan from the SAFF Women’s Championship held in Kathmandu from October 17 to 30, 2024, as well as medalists Erica Gurung and Head Coach Kushal Shrestha from the 20th Asian Karate Championship held in Haizhou, China, from September 17 to 23, 2024.

Oli also awarded prizes to the medalists Kamala Pun, Manish Kumari Chaudhary, and Coach Rupesh Kumar Bista from the Men’s and Women’s CAVA Beach Volleyball competition held in Thimphu, Bhutan, from August 1 to 4, 2024.

In his address, Oli praised the athletes for bringing pride to the country on the international stage and encouraged them to compete with high morale and determination.

He highlighted the importance of embracing collective spirit while entering the field of competition.
