Additional 14 industries face power cut for unpaid dues



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cut off electricity supply to an additional 14 industries, apart from those previously disconnected from dedicated feeders and trunk lines for consuming power without paying the premium on dues.

NEA disconnected the power supply to the industries with over 50 million rupees due on Friday

Initially, four industries with dues exceeding 1 billion, followed by five industries with heavy dues faced the power cut since December 22. Along with these, NEA has now informed about the disconnection of power lines for 23 customers served by dedicated feeders and trunk lines, including 14 industries that disconnected last Friday.

The industries disconnected on Friday include Baba Jute Mill (56.1 million), Nigale Cement (142.1 million), Triveni Synthetic Yarn Industry (156.6 million), Himal Iron and Steel (81.3 million), Jagdamba Enterprises (479.8 million), Hama Iron (115.5 million), Everest Paper Mill (213.6 million), among others.

Similarly, Cosmos Cement (358.2 million), Shubhashree Agni Cement (381 million), Jagdamba Synthetic (475.3 million), Gharana Foods (50.9 million), Siddharth Petplast (52.4 million), Butwal Cement (329.8 million), Narayani Ispat (784.9 million) are also among those facing power disconnection
