KATHMANDU: The monsoon season is set to linger in Nepal, departing later than its typical October 2 timeline.

The Weather Forecast Division has foreseen a likelihood of heavy rainfall in select regions of the country over the next three to four days.

Consequently, they have issued precautionary measures to mitigate potential damage.

Traditionally, the monsoon bids farewell to Nepal on October 2, but this year, it is expected to extend its stay beyond this date, as reported by the Division.

Currently, a low-pressure system is forming in the North-Western region of the Bay of Bengal.

Over the next few days, this system is anticipated to shift in a North-West direction, resulting in a shift from intermittent to regular weather patterns in many parts of the country.

Furthermore, there is a forecast of light to moderate thunderstorms and lightning in various areas, including Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, and Lumbini regions.

The Weather Forecast Division released a special bulletin, warning of the potential for heavy rainfall in certain areas and emphasizing the risk of landslides in mountainous regions.

Additionally, they have cautioned about the possibility of rising water levels in rivers.
